While OTC hearing aids are convenient, certain symptoms indicate a medical condition that requires an evaluation by an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor or an audiologist.
Sudden Hearing Loss: A rapid change in hearing in one or both ears.
Asymmetrical Loss: Hearing that is significantly worse in one ear than the other.
Physical Symptoms: Active drainage from the ear, persistent dizziness (vertigo), or physical pain/discomfort in the ear canal.
Tinnitus: Constant ringing or buzzing, especially if it occurs only in one ear.
