We finally wrapped up our home renovation in Palo Alto last month after about five months of chaos. It was a long road but the end result is great. The biggest lesson I learned is that you really need a reliable home renovation contractor in Palo Alto who knows the local permit process inside and out. We almost hired someone from out of town who was cheaper but had no clue about the city's requirements, which would have been a disaster. I've had my 2017 430i for about two years now and I keep going back and forth on whether to sign up for some kind of maintenance plan. I drive around 25k km a year so I'm at the shop more than I'd like, and every time I go I end up paying whatever they quote because I don't have time to shop around. A guy at work told me he signed a Reliable service contract for BMW owners and said it basically covers his routine maintenance for the year at a fixed price, no surprises. That sounds appealing because I hate the guessing game, but I'm also worried about being locked into one place and then finding out they don't cover something important.
